“I understand why you don't speak, why you don't move, why you've created a part for yourself out of apathy. I understand. I admire. You should go on with this part until it is played out, until it loses interest for you. Then you can leave it, just as you've left your other parts one by one.”
This is a project inspired by the Bergman's movie, about the gulf between what you are with others and what you are alone. I take photos of the model in two separate areas, which we can call public and private. The clothes, hairstyle and make-up must remain the same. In this way, I try to show how the model gives similar poses with different facial expressions in different environments. After shooting, I digitally overlap similar poses taken in two different environments.
"You are beautiful my dear, but at a very close range."
Cemal Süreya
Five years ago, a 'Get Closer' statement changed all my relationship with photography. I noticed that the camera does not only imitate the eye. It also goes beyond all the social distances, and gives a similar sense of infinity that you can feel when you go all the way with your love. With this project, where I shoot from even closer than close-up, I aim to show the beauty that our eyes missed because we were never close enough, but the camera could capture.
